![]() ![]() ![]() Aeneas’ story is finished in Roman mythology where he becomes the ancestor of Romulus and Remus, the mythological founders of Rome, fulfilling the prophesy given to him by the gods. The Aeneid tells of his adventures through the Mediterranean and Carthage and ends abruptly after his defeat of his native Latin rival. He is prophesied by the gods to be the ancestor of a great empire on the shores of what would be Italy. Aeneas flees his destroyed home city of Troy with several of his countrymen and his elderly father at the insistence of the gods. The story of the Aeneid encompasses the mythological tale of the Trojan hero Aeneas and his journey after the Trojan War. In the second scene of Spring Awakening we find the boys of the musical in the middle of their Latin class reciting the Aeneid by Virgil. “Do you have any idea what you’re saying Herr Stiefel?” ![]()
